Murrumbeena Wine Bar in Murrumbeena (Opened September 2019)

The Fancy Parrot in Ascot Vale (Opened September 2019)
Take a stroll through Melbourne’s inner north-west and you’ll stumble upon Ascot vale’s famed Union road and latest flavour of the month, The Fancy Parrot. It is hard to look past the new northside nibble and sip destination with its brightly-coloured cushions and notable urban street art mural on entry. This 60-seater wine bar concots a casual, comfortable and warm environment from it’s friendly, approachable staff, reasonably priced boutique wine and cocktail list and seriously good sharing plates.  Wine bars may be nothing new to the seasoned Melbournian, however, you need only take one trip to The Fancy Parrot and you’ll find yourself immersed in a luscious sanctuary of greenery, unique art and colourful staff neatly tucked in what feels like a friendly neighbour’s courtyard. The Fancy Parrot is not complete without a graze of their mouthwatering food menu. Playing on classic wine accompaniments with a tasty modern twist, one can expect to find hot and head-turning Arancini Balls with a rich sundried tomato and feta filling served with a spiced labneh and Grana Padano. Couple this with a choice of rich, creamy cheese from Victoria and beyond and a side of salty Marinated Olives and you’ve landed yourself the quintessential Fancy Parrot sharing plate. If that wasn’t enough to satisfy the palate, there will be no looking past the show-stopping herbaceous, succulent Chicken Breast Tenders. Taking notable inspiration from the acclaimed Colonel’s Kentucky Fried Chicken.  For the vegetarian and vegan foodies out there, why not tantalise the taste-buds with Tempura battered Zucchini Flowers and a side of rich, nutty house made romesco sauce.

300 Grams Burger Joint in Northcote (Opened September 2019)
Burger-loving vegans and meat-eaters of the north (plus everyone in between) can now rejoice.  The masterminds behind D’Lish in Port Melbourne bring their highly anticipated burgers north of the Yarra to satisfy all the hunger pains.  Setting up shop next door to the Northcote Social Club,  300 Grams will be the first and only burger joint flipping patties on High Street from Westgarth to Thornbury.  
With a focus on simple and classic flavours, the menu utilises premium local ingredients including free-range meats alongside fresh and local vegetables, to satisfy everyone with vegan and vegetarian options. The menu features seven burgers dripping with delicious sauces made in-house, including a cheeseburger, chicken and fish burgers, and plant based patties to be tricked up with southern fried mushrooms and vegan cheese. The signature burger and namesake the ‘300 Gs’, will dish up a beef patty on a bun, with cheese, lettuce, onion, tomato, pickles and special ‘300 sauce’ – all weighing in at the amount from which the eatery takes its name.  All buns are vegan, with gluten-free options available too, and the menu is completed by a side selection that boasts sweet potato fries for the health-conscious, southern fried chicken and ‘cauli’ bites, plus a range of soft serve sundaes if there’s any more room in the belly.  All sundaes are vegan, created from a coconut-water based soft serve.

Nutrition Capital in Coburg (Opened September 2019)
Located amongst the apartment community in the heart of Coburg, Nutrition Capital is a cosy one stop shop for all your health and coffee needs. Organic, Eco-friendly and made to order, Nutrition Capital has the most nutritious breakfast, brunch and lunch options that are full of flavour.  The innovative menu covers a range of earth bowls, freshly squeezed juices, protein smoothies, nourish bowls and protein pancakes. The even offer a delicious range of vegan, vegetarian, dairy and gluten free options too. The team at Nutrition Capital are passionate about providing a friendly service that will have you coming back, time and time again.

Essie Wine Bar in Malvern East (Opened August 2019)
Essie Wine Bar is not only a cool neighbourhood wine bar, but also a wine shop that is conveniently located walking distance from Malvern Station.  It’s a great place to stop off with friends and enjoy a glass or three of some their beautiful wines.  If you’re feeling peckish they also serve delicious jaffles and cheeseboards too.

YOI Indonesian Fusion Restaurant (Opened August 2019)
YOI Indonesian Fusion restaurant opened on the 31st of August and serves a mix of traditional Indonesian cuisine and modern Asian food.  They are a family run restaurant composed of two young brothers and their mother. YOI’s signature dishes include their Salted Egg Chicken and their sweet dessert called Martabak – Indonesia’s most loved street food.

Zero Mode Box Hill (Opened August 2019)
Zero Mode Box Hill was born out of a desire to create something dynamic and eclectic that transforms through each seating where different offerings are chosen for the time of day.  By fusing traditional Asian with modern Australian, Zero Mode provides unique fusion meals to tantalise the taste buds.  
Each menu is seasonal and uses premium Australian produce. Their ‘Day Menu’ includes All Day Breakfast choices as well as heartier burgers, ramens and bowls – with lots of  Gluten Free & Vegetarian options to chose from. And when night mode is enabled, you can expect sophisticated dishes that you’ll be talking about for days.  You’ll find Karaage or Baos then levelling up to Deconstructed Sushi or Burgers.

The Advocate Restaurant & Cocktail Bar (Opened August 2019)
The Advocate Restaurant & Cocktail Bar in Balwyn is the second bespoke cocktail bar and restaurant by Founder, Interior Designer & Decorator Jane Gorman.  Together with the talented Head Chef Tim Malligan, they have created a memorable dining experience that take guests on a culinary journey within Victoria – and as a result are proud to promote the best local produce Victoria has to offer.  At the Advocate Restaurant & Cocktail Bar you an enjoy an internationally inspired menu that has been carefully curated to compliment with their extensive quality wine and cocktail offering.  The food menu includes a delicious range of tapas and small plates,  large plates that include: Gnocchi with Wild Mushroom, Parmigiana & Sorrel, Baked Brie with Pistachio, Truffle Honey, Caramelised Figs & Baked Bread, Beef Rump with Turnip, Charred Onion, Kalette & Red Wine Jus and so much more.

Curly Whiskers – French Fine Dining in Brighton
“Proud to be fussy” is their mantra, and with outstanding classic bistro dishes, ethically sourced ingredients and fastidious attention to detail, they have every right to be.  Located in Melbourne’s Bayside suburb of Brighton discover ‘Curly Whiskers’ a cosy 26 seater French diner that serves premium meals without pretence and premium price tags.  With the talented Dutch Chef Silas Orré at the head of the kitchen, alongside owners Rosalin and Oliver Virnik you can expect an incredible line up of French classic creations such as Chateaubriand en croute; Soupe à l’oignon; Coquilles Saint-Jacques, Bouillabaisse; and Coq au vin – at times with a unique twist.  As well as daily specials that reflect the seasons and other culinary inspiration.

Handsome Bar Melbourne (Opened August 2019)
Discover Melbourne’s latest hidden laneway hangout ‘Handsome Bar’ serving up quality cocktails and plant based bar food that is sure to entice vegetarians and vegans alike, no matter what the hour.  Led by Elmas, general manager Alla Payne (ex-Lucy Liu) and 2IC Stevie Hatz (ex-ST. Ali), Handsome Bar is perfect for after-work drinks or late-night drinks with friends. This hidden gem is the sister bar to Ergun Elmas’ Middle-Eastern restaurant Souk, both nestled at the end of Bligh Place.  
Located off Flinders Lane, Handsome Bar is a luxe, dimly lit late night venue with velvet couches, brass tables adorned with trinkets, a glass chandelier, cosy drinking nooks and a marble wrap-around bar which offers up plenty of bar-seating.  A seat at the bar also affords punters a small glimpse of the vibrant restaurant above, as Souk’s signature neon interior soaks through a gap in the ceiling.   So why not finish off your night with a visit to Souk for a more substantial feed.

Town House Cafe in Hampton (Opened July 2019)

Monroe’s Burgers & Beers St Kilda (Opened July 2019)
Known for serving up creative yet mouth-watering gourmet burgers, Yarra Valley viral burger sensation, Monroe’s Burgers & Beers, has now opened a venue on Acland Street in St Kilda.  Bona fide burger experts & owners Paul Stephens, Gary and Alex Bright hold specific standards on how to prepare all elements of a burger to perfection. Even more so since the addition of Chef Andrew Cooper (Rockpool Group, Dinner by Heston), to the team, who has been invaluable in both increasing the volume of burgers produced all whilst maintaining quality and dreaming up new flavours and burger creations.
 With a limited 7 day special every week, as well as their ever changing ‘secret menu’ it is safe to assume the team at Monroe’s are not afraid of pushing creative boundaries to deliver the most tender, succulent and delicious burgers in the market.  In addition Monroe’s Burgers & Beers will be showcasing the best of Melbourne’s craft beer with unique beers from independent brewers.

Bodriggy Brewing Co. Abbotsford (Opened July 2019)
Abbotsford’s new brew-pub Bodriggy Brewing Co. has opened up on Johnston Street and is fast becoming a hotspot for quality craft beers and delicious Latin American eats.  Bodriggy Brewing Co. make beers that represents our home in Melbourne and the local community who drink it.  For those of you who would prefer something other than beer, then you’ll be happy to know that Bodriggy Brewing Co. also serve wine, cocktails and spirits – with a tequila and mezcal range to match the stunning food created by Head Chef Johny Dominguez (formerly of The Fat Duck, Dinner by Heston and Vue de Monde).  You can expect a menu that balances on the edges of fine dining and classic Latin America cuisine, all whilst considering the Australian punter.  Every single dish on the menu is different and has its own profile and breaks those clichés about Latin American food to bring you another new experience to the table.

Ines Wine Bar on Chapel Street (Opened July 2019)
Located on the Windsor end of Chapel Street, you’ll find Ines Wine Bar a dimly lit and cosy European style wine bar that oozes old school charm with a touch of timeless elegance.  At Ines Wine Bar you can enjoy a 
comprehensive list of local and international wines from all over the world – we’re talking France, Spain, South America, Lebanon, South Africa, New Zealand and so on.  If wine isn’t quite your tipple of choice for the night, then you’ll be pleased to know that they also serve a great selection of beers, spirits and quality classic cocktails too.  The food menu at Ines Wine Bar might be on the small side, but you’ll be very satisfied with their delectable menu filled with Italian classics in the form of small plates designed for sharing, cheese and charcuteries boards, a small selection of large plates such as Gnocchi pan fried and served with gorgonzola cream and walnuts, Bistecca grilled eye fillet served with tarragon butter and duck fat potatoes, along with must have desserts like their Chocolate Tiramisu coffee soaked cake with chocolate, mascarpone & marsala.

Barlog Espresso Cafe in Docklands (Opened June 2019)
Conveniently located close to trams, buses and trains, Barlog Espresso cafe is the latest project from the talented team behind Fledgling Espresso in Carlton North.  At Barlog Espresso cafe you can specialty coffee provided by Inglewood Coffee Roasters, along with a seasonal brunch menu that is sure to satisfy your tastebuds.

Casa N.O.M Bar y Restaurante (Opened June 2019)
Casa N.O.M Bar Y Restaurante has been brought to you by brothers Nicholas and Thomas Welch of ‘The White Oaks Saloon Bar’ and ‘Silverlake Social’.  Located amongst the cultural boutiques of Greville Street in Prahran, Casa N.O.M Bar Y Restaurante is a local Mezcaleria for the agave and Latin American enthusiast.  At Casa N.O.M you can enjoy a food menu filled with classic and traditional dishes inspired by the culture and flavours of the Americas and the sounds of 1970s Latin America.  Of course you also expect it to champion the spirits of Latin America – with an emphasis and celebration on the integrity of Mezcal. Casa N.O.M also showcases the amazing diversity of spirits from other parts of Mexico, and Latin America, including tequila, rum, aguardiente, pisco and cachaca. Offering craft beers, wines, cocktails and spirits (many personally sourced and imported by the Welch brothers from the Americas).

Balagan Kitchen in Windsor (Opened February 2019)
Located on High Street in Windsor, Balagan Kitchen is a family run Israeli and Middle Eastern restaurant that offers a contemporary take on Israeli and Middle Eastern cuisine. The kitchen is led by the talented Chef Akad Al-Guepa formerly of Rockpool, Rosetta & Spice Temple) who has created a menu that includes a few Middle Eastern classics, along with a wide variety of dishes that have been reimagined by himself.  We would recommend trying Balagan Kitchen’s Banquet style menu to get a real feel of a stunning range of Balagan’s kitchen dishes that are all fresh and packed full of flavour.

Flovie Florist Cafe in  Carlton (Opened January 2019)
Flovie Florist cafe in Carlton Flovie brings an Asian-fusion menu and freshly cut flowers to the tree-lined Queensberry Street.  This neighbourhood favourite has become a foodie destination for breakfast, lunch, coffee and unique floral arrangements. On the menu, Flovie’s signature items include the tender Chinese BBQ Cha Sui Pulled Pork with Eggs Benedict, the panfried mandou (Chinese steamed bun) and the decadent Flovie Black Forest Hotcakes served with a tart cherry compote, chocolate creme anglaise, cherry chocolate ganache, mascarpone chantilly and chocolate soil.  Must-try drinks include Flovie’s unique ‘perfume’ mocktails named after Disney films – Snow White, Sleeping Beauty, The Little Mermaid and Frozen, topped with edible flowers in the ice cube and served with mineral water filled perfume bottles and potion bottles containing 100% natural floral extracts which customers can pour into their drinks.
