You’ll find Lover Bar just walking distance from Windsor railway station, located on the corner of McIlwrick street and Chapel Street. This dimly-lit bar and kitchen is the brainchild of owner Will Newton, whose passion was to create a bar that was a little different to other bars in the area. A bar where you can truly relax, enjoy a few drinks and feast without being rushed through your dining experience – and yes it’s true they do serve food until late, which is always an added bonus.
With the talented Head Chef Paul Turner (formally of Cutler and Co, Donovans and Qualia) on board, Lover Bar is able to offer a tasty variety of cheese and meat platters, along with Modern Australian shared plates, mains & a small selection of desserts. On our visit, we decided to go for the $60 per head ‘Feed Me Menu’ and let Head Chef Paul Turner choose for us, and we were not disappointed.
Here are just a handful of our favourite dishes from Lover Bar:
- The Freshly Baked Pretzel filled with Wagyu, pickles, cheese & mustard
- The Burrata with heirloom tomatoes, peach & basil
- The Pan-Fried Gnocchi with zucchini, fresh basil & cheese
- The Porterhouse with chargrilled broccolini & black garlic
As for the cocktail menu at Lover Bar, we must admit we were very impressed with the stunning variety of cocktails on offer. Even their friendly bartender was really helpful and knowledgeable when recommending cocktails to suit our tastebuds. For those of you who prefer wine instead of cocktails, then you will be happy to know that Lover Bar has a carefully curated wine list that consists of local and international wines which can be purchased by the glass or bottle.
